ON FUN:
I had a long day Sunday. I went to a friend's graduation party, trying my best to manage my caloric intake despite the delicious breakfast food being served. I stayed there all day, kind of regretting my forgetting of swim trunks (or, as one friend called it, my "pool uniform.") After all the pool fun, we played some a trivia game - both of the times I played, I won. And while I feel bad because other people had to lose, I hate to see myself lose more than I hate to see others lose.
I was deciding all day whether to go to the Alkaline Trio concert in Providence that night. On the one hand, I moderately enjoy their music; on the other hand, I had already had a very busy weekend and hadn't really caught my breath. But, as one friend recently pointed out, I don't want to get older and only be able to talk about the video games I've played or the TV shows I've watched, so I went to the concert.
Now, I won't pretend that I'm a huge fan of the band; my exposure has come mainly through various punk compilation discs I have purchased. I have enjoyed the songs I've listened to, but they haven't affected me like Pearl Jam or anything. And the show was good; the energy was high, even if I did find myself abnormally concerned for the health and well-being of those brave enough to body surf.
After the show, we went to a chain restaurant for some late-night deliciousness. I got home late, but with a solid feeling of satisfaction from a weekend well spent. Two in a row...I'm pretty sure that's a record for me.
