ON BEAUTY:

I recently received a picture in my email of a woman, described by a friend as "the queen of sexy." And, while she wasn't an UNattractive woman, I don't know that I would go so far as to describe her as "the queen of sexy." Even hyperbolically.

My "wise" friend wisely responded with "then who is?" And you know...I don't know. On "Celebrity Rehab*," model Amber Smith said that her mom's pinnacle of beauty was "Pamela Anderson." And I couldn't help but think...really? Pamela Anderson is many things - "quarantined by the CDC" being just one of them - but as pinnacle of beauty? In 2008?

I suppose it comes down to taste. It's generally agreed that certain people have features that are more appealing to more people - I think facial symmetry was one of the features marked as "beautiful", and I'd like to somehow involve the Fibonacci sequence/golden mean - but ultimately, it's an issue that not everyone is going to agree on. So I will politely disagree with my wise friend, citing the fact that everyone has a different idea of beauty, or sexy, or whatever.

*Also watched with my wise friend. He is really attracted to Gary Busey. Seriously, disturbingly attracted to him. Yipes.

Bradley, I find this disturbingly odd. I have written this exact same group of sentences many a time, describing to Lou Perella how attracted I was to a specific person/persons.
I totally believe that your definition of beauty has a bunch of specifics that are just based out of experience/memories/what you are or are not used to/etc.
So yeah.
Also - maybe you should leave your FRIEND'S opinion on Gary Busey out of your blog! maybe it's private!

dick!
