ON A GREAT DAY

I woke up early this morning, about an hour before the alarm went off. And sometime in that hour, as I lay (laid?) in bed, thinking about the upcoming day, I committed myself to positivity throughout the day. In my judicial meetings, in my meetings with the RA's, in dealing with the fallout from yesterday's meeting. It was a great hour of contemplation and serenity.

The alarm went off at its customary time. Excited to face this bright new day, I swung out of bed...and promptly cut my right heel with my left big toenail. I laughed it off (positivity today!) and shut off the alarm. Took a shower. Got dressed. Put on my socks. About an hour or so later, I checked my heel, as it was still stinging. Of course, there is now about a dime-size bloodstain on the heel of my "Puma" brand socks (the extra-squooshy kind!).

But I am soldiering through; Curt Schilling has nothing on me. My judicial meeting went fine, the RA meeting went well, lunch was an open-faced turkey sandwich (that the worker closed with another piece of bread for no good reason). A productive meeting, followed by one of the bottles of Coke Zero that the Coke rep never picked up (from my ethical dilemma in early January). Improv show tonight...yes. It's a great day, bloody heel and all. I can't believe this is all it takes to be happy, just a choice like that.
