I've been laboring under the misapprehension that I am a strong comedic writer for a while now. But through my work on the upcoming Comedy Bonanza, my eyes have been opened. Writing with a group is so much better than writing alone. The material sounds more realistic, the jokes come from a more varied set of experiences. It's a good time.
Now, if there were only some way to better stay on task during the actual writing process...
WRITER ONE: I think this character should come in carrying a tray of brownies...
WRITER TWO: We could use the "Little Debbie" Brownies.
WRITER THREE: Little Debbie? I love those - what do you call them, Peanut Butter Bars?
WRITER FOUR: You're thinking of Nutty Bars, and they're disgusting.
WRITER THREE: No, I know what Nutty Bars are, and they aren't disgusting.
WRITER TWO: I almost threw up after eating three Oatmeal Cream Pies in college.
(forty minutes of Little Debbie-related arguments pass)
WRITER ONE: So it's agreed. This character comes in carrying a tray of brownies.
WRITER THREE: And two tomahawks.
