ON BOUNDARIES:

Nights socializing with work friends are interesting. On the one hand, you get to see a side of people you don't ordinarily get to see. On the other hand...it's not always a side you want to see.

We got together last night - eight of us, at least - and did some bonding. I learned things that can't be unlearned, I saw things that can't be unseen. And I drank Diet Cherry 7-up, which is the most womanly thing one can do (short of giving birth). And I'll say this - last night was a lot of fun. A surprising amount of fun.

But then, this morning, walking into a meeting with the same people from last night...that was significantly less fun.

It's kind of like looking at an optical illusion like the one below. Maybe you initially see an elderly couple. Maybe you see some young men playing the guitar. But once you see BOTH, you can't go back to your initial observation. Both are there. And I suppose, in the long run, that's a good thing. But for the short run...yipes.
